On December 30th of 2020, long-time refurbishing device company Gazelle has announced that it is shutting down its popular trade-in program. Gazelle’s trade-in program allowed users to trade in their dated electronic devices from iPhones, iPads, Macs and more for cash.
The announcement was made to its customers on December 30th, stating that the program will be shutting down starting February 1st, 2021. Customers had until January 31st to qualify for a quote and trade-in transaction.
Although their quote functionality is leaving, device trade-in will continue. Gazelle has decided to focus on its ecoATM kiosks that offer “immediate cash for used smart devices.” Although this may appear enticing at first glance, the new caveat here is that these kiosks pay a much lower price than a full-fledged trade-in program like SellYourMac.
