MacBook Pro
The first generation Macbook Pro core duo features a 15.5” widescreen display with a 1.83ghz intel core duo processor (MA463LL/A). They come standard with 512MB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (max 2GB), 80GB 5400RPM Serial ATA hard drive, slot-loading 4X SL Superdrive with DVD burning and CD burning standard. Graphics card is a Radeon x1600 with 128MB VRAM. Wireless card comes standard and is known as Airport Extreme with 802.11b/g supported. Bluetooth is included as well as one Firewire 400 port and two USB 2.0 ports. The trackpad features two-finger scrolling. The LCD has a built in webcam called iSight to record photos and videos utilizing the iLife programs Photo Booth and iMovie. This laptop is capable of running the newest Apple software and Microsoft Windows. Windows can be installed with Apple’s built-in Bootcamp software or third-party software from VMWare Fusion or Parallels. The battery life is rated at 3.5-4.5 hours.
In February 2006, Apple released a Macbook Pro utilizing a 2.0ghz (MA464LL/A) or 2.16ghz (MA601LL) Intel Core Duo processor featured a 5400RPM 80GB or 100GB Hard Drive. They also come standard with either 512MB or 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM and support faster wi-fi with 802.11a/b/g. The 2ghz and 2.16ghz Macbook Pro has a Radeon X1600 graphics card with 128MB or 256MB of VRAM. In April, Apple also released a 17” 2.16GHz (MA092LL) Intel Core Duo with 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM and a 120GB (5400 RPM) hard drive with Sudden Motion Sensor technology.

Late 2006 MacBook Pro
The Late 2006 15.4” Macbook Pros utilize a 2.16ghz (MA609LL) or 2.33ghz (MA610LL) Intel Core 2 Duo processor. A 17” 2.33ghz (MA611LL/A) model is also available with a front-loading 8X dual-layer DVD +/- RW/CD-RW SuperDrive. The 15.4” Macbook Pros feature a 6X dual-layer DVD +\- RW/CD-RW SuperDrive. The 2.16GHz configuration comes standard with 1GB DDR2 SDRAM while 15” and 17” 2.33GHz configurations come standard with 2GB DDR2 SDRAM and can utilize up to 3GB RAM. Standard hard drives are 5400RPM 80GB or 120GB for 15.4” configurations and 160GB for 17”. They also come with Airport Extreme with 802.11n.

Mid/Late 2007 MacBook Pro
The Mid/Late 2007 Macbook Pros feature a 15” 2.2ghz (MA895LL) and 15” (MA896LL) or 17” (MA897LL/A) 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo chip known as Santa Rosa. The advantage to this model is a faster frontside bus on the motherboard (800mhz vs. 667mhz of previous generations) and upgraded graphics card to NVIDIA Geforce GT with 128MB or 256MB VRAM. With the exception of the display, the 15” Santa Rosa models are externally identical to the previous release. 2GB of RAM is standard and this release can now support up to 4GB

Early 2008 MacBook Pro
The early 2008 Macbook Pros featured a 15” 2.4ghz (MB133LL/A) and 15” 2.5ghz (MB134LL/A) or 17” (MB166LL/A). Apple also offered the 17” in a 2.6ghz version.
The new chip included in these models is known as Penryn. This processor is slightly faster and more energy efficient than its predecessor. Both 2.4ghz and 2.5ghz models sport a slot loading 8X dual-layer DVD +/- RW/CD-RW SuperDrive and NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processor. The graphics processor featured 256MB of VRAM and dual-link DVI functionality on the 2.4GHz configuration and 512MB on the 2.5GHz configurations. The 2.4ghz model comes standard with a 200GB hard drive and 2GB RAM while the 2.5GHz configuration comes with 250GB HD and 2GB RAM. On October 14, 2008, Apple boosted the standard ram on the 17” to 4GB. All models are capable of supporting 6GB of RAM.

Late 2008/Unibody MacBook Pro
In Late 2008, the Unibody MacBook Pro was released with the casing designed from a single block of aluminum. The processor is a 2.4ghz (MB470LL/A) or 2.53ghz (MB471LL/A) Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn chip with a faster 1066Mhz frontside bus. The 2.4GHz configuration comes standard with 2GB of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM while the 2.53GHz configurations has 4GB of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM (max 8GB). The faster internal architecture and RAM speed greatly increases the speed of the MacBook Pro. Both come standard with dual-layer DVD burning superdrive and a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB VRAM. The 2.53GHz configuration also has a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory.
The display is LED-backlit for super crisp graphics. The glass mutli-touch trackpad is capable of detecting everything from two finger scrolling to four finger gestures. The 2.4ghz model comes standard with 250GB and the 2.53GHz model comes standard with 320GB hard drive, and backlit keyboard, and an external monitor connector utilizing a mini-display portcapable of supporting a 2560x1600 resolution external monitor. The firewire 400 port is no longer included. Ports include two USB 2.0 ports and one Firewire 800 port.

Early 2009/Unibody MacBook Pro
The Early 2009 Unibody MacBook Pros features a 2.66GHz Intel core 2 duo Penryn processor with the option of a 15” (MC026LL/A) or 17” (MB604LL/A) display. These two independent processor cores share 6MB “on chip” level 2 chache. It has a 1066MHz frontside bus and comes standard with 4 GB of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM (max 8GB of RAM). Also standard is a 320GB (5,400RPM) Serial ATA hard drive. Both utilize dual graphics processors, a NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT with 512 MB of dedicated GDDR3 SDRAM and a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M with 256 MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory. The shared memory video card helps conserve battery power when the 512MB video card is not required.

Mid-2009 13” MacBook Pro
The Mid-2009 13” Unibody Macbook Pro features a 2.26ghz (MB990LL/A) or 2.53ghz (MB991LL/A) Intel Core 2 Duo processor. The 2.26ghz comes standard with 2GB 1066Mhz RAM and 160GB (5400 RPM) hard drive and the 2.53ghz comes standard with 4GB RAM and 250GB (5400 RPM) hard drive. These models are capable of supported up to 8GB RAM. Both models have a non-removable battery rated at 7 hours that lasts for 1000 charge cycles, which is two to five times the life of the average laptop battery. The keyboard is backlit and auto-senses low light conditions like the previous Unibody 2.4Ghz model. These models feature a SD card slot for quick editing and sharing of your photos and video while on the go. Ports include two USB 2.0 ports and one Firewire 800 port.

Mid-2009 17” MacBook Pro
The Mid-2009, the Unibody MacBook Pro was released with the casing designed from a single block of aluminum. The 15” models feature a 2.53GHz (MC118LL/A) or 2.66GHz (MB471LL/A) Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn chip. The 17” (MC226LL/A) sports a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Pernyn processor. These processors have a 1066Mhz frontside bus and come standard with 4 GB of 1066 Mhz DDR3 RAM (max 8GB). For an additional $50, the 17” MacBook Pro offers the option of an “anti-glare” display. All configurations come standard with dual-layer DVD burning superdrive and a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB VRAM and NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics processor with 512MB of dedicated GDDR3. The 2.53GHz model comes standard with 250GB, 2.66GHz model with 320GB, and 17” model with 500GB hard drive and backlit keyboard. The external monitor connector utilizes a mini-display port and is capable of supporting a 2560x1600 resolution external monitor.
